Leaving the part time job

The part time job has run its course. I have been there five years and counting and the money is no longer worth it. Sure I loved traveling the world staying in luxury hotels but now my taste has really changed and my need for privacy and relaxation when traveling has caused me to start renting apartments and villas.

Also, I am tired of working 7 days a week, when I do have the weekend off I feel normal. I'm up during the day visiting friends and family, grocery shopping and doing fun things with the hubby. When I do have to work at the part time job I get depressed, angry, and really have to pipe myself to go in there.

I have faith that God has other plans for me. Recently, I started going back to church on Sunday Mornings.... right after work and my faith is being built back up. The extra money is nice... but its not worth my sanity or my health for that matter.

I was thinking that I was going to last until the end of the year but I don't know if I can do it. I'm teaching honors classes at school as well as staying after school until 5pm pretty much every day to grade papers do tutoring plus teaching Saturday School from 9-12 every Saturday. Something has to give and right now... its the second job.

Do any of you have part time jobs? How are they working out for you?

Didn't get the job!

Well I didn't get the job!

The reason being because they won't allow me to leave school early. I did however ask if I could work there unpaid for a couple of hours each week. The lead interviewer was quite surprised that I asked for the opportunity to work unpaid but told me that we could work it out. I will be speaking with her late next week. Who knows, maybe this eventually turn into a part time job later on down the road.

Changing Schools

I am thinking about moving to a different school.. in fact a charter high school. I love my school but I don't think that I will be able to get the training that I need next year in order to become a good administrator and eventually a good policy maker. However, with a new school comes new faculty... and new students... and I love my students and my colleagues ( for the most part). I really have to figure out what I am going to do, and what I am going to do soon.

oh I watched Twilight last night and I absolutely loved it. If you didn't see it.. you need to rent it.

working of Feb goals

Feb is a short month and I still have not fleshed out my goals.  I have so much to do and so little time. I don't know what I would do if I did not have my handy little planner. The school work is starting to pick up like crazy, teaching is getting really crazy due to standardized tests coming, and I just want to go on a little vacay and get a facial.

It's sad but I am living for June.

Gotta love students who work

One of 11th grade homeroom students came up to me today and gave me a little green postcard. She works at the Gap and gave me a 30% off friends and family coupon that can be used at Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic.

Remember the rest of the stuff I said I wanted to get to update my wardrobe... well I will be using this coupon and treating myself to some stuff for my birthday.

I love being a teacher!!!

Thank God for Tuition Reimbursment

I was searching my school districts employee section of its website and found out that my district is offering tuition reimbursement for all teachers who need to get level 2 certification ( masters).

Guess who is working on their level 2 certification???? Me!!!!

The website says that they are offering up to $1000.00 for any class taken from August 29, 2008-June 20, 2009. All I have to do is fill out a form and attach proof of payment and the reimbursement will be added right to my paycheck.

I wonder if it will be taxed or untaxed?

Either way guess where that money is going???? Right to my emergency Fund!!!

So Blessed

I have been teaching for 3 years. 2 years at the same school. Today was the first day back to school for teachers. We also have another day of professional development tomorrow and then the students come back on Thursday. Today went well for the first part. We received our rosters and class schedules and began decorating our rooms. I started decorating my room and than the principal told me I was going to be moving to a new room. Boy was I pissed. I had my guy help me move all my books and everything to the room that I was supposed to have this year, at the end of last year. We had everything organized and I was prepared to rock and roll.

Instead... I had to lug everything back up to the sixth floor but then no one had the key to the room, so I had to wait for engineering to open it up and then the teacher who was in that room last year( who transferred at the last minute) did not take anything of hers out the room, so I had no time to organize and put anything up... I will have to do that all day tomorrow

but enough of the complaining... this is why I am so blessed

I got the biggest room in the whole school... yes the biggest room. Its a classroom plus some extra space with tables, chairs, etc...

It is the only place besides the main office that has air-conditioning!!!!!!

MY roster is so sweet. Most teachers teach 3 90 minute classes. I will be only teaching 2!!! I will be teaching English 3 which is all year long and 45 minutes. I have 2 English 3 classes which equals 1 block... the same students all year, then I teach 1 90 minute English 4 class. I have a prep first thing in the morning and then I have lunch and free time at the end of the day to work on the yearbook( which I also get paid for...extra $4000-5000).

All I can say is Wow!!! Thank You Jesus. I taught English 3 last year so I have lesson plans for that, all I have to plan for is English 4 and that should be easy.

I am do blessed
