Do you crockpot?

As in cook with a crock pot or other slow cooker.

I do! Not as often as I would like but I giving up fast food for Lent so I will be doing all of my cooking at home ( starting from today).

I know we are all very busy and using a crock pot makes eating healthy so much more easier. You put all the ingredients in the pot before you leave work in the morning and by the time you get home you have a delicious, healthy meal waiting for you, and a house that smells like Sunday dinner.

Last night I made Chicken, Shrimp and Beef Sausage Gumbo in the crock pot. This is boobee's favorite dish so I make it at least once a month and it will last us about two days. I just found this yummy recipe for slow cooked chicken that I am going to try tomorrow. Of course I don't follow the recipe exactly and neither should you! Believe me, I am going to kick this recipe up a notch with some Cajun seasoning, chicken broth, jerk seasoning, and Cayenne pepper. We like our food a little spicy.

Today after work I will go shopping for the ingredients, and will make it before I put it all in the crockpot before work tomorrow. I'll let you know how everything turns out.

Do you use your slow cooker often? If so what are your favorite recipes?

Until next time, think prosperous thoughts

I feel about my crockpot the same way I do about getting my license and blackberry.....whyyyy'd I wait so long. I love that thing. It's the best. On a Saturday or Sunday, your running errands or cleaning or just plain busy and your meal is cooking away. When all is done instead of being to tired to cook, your meal is waiting!

I have one but I don't use it often enough. I think I may have used it once in the last 2 years. Shameful. Let us know how you kick up the recipe.

You motivated me. I am going to try a recipe this weekend. =)

Yep and I'm using it this weekend. Either pork or lamb, haven't decided, but since my boo is working on Saturday, and I'm coming into the office to get some work done, it's a good time to use it.

My only "problem" with crockpots is that I cannot stand the deliciousness of the smell while it's cooking! I once put some food on while I worked a temp job, thinking it'd be a full day. Well, it was a half day, and when I got home I still had 4 hours before I could eat, and I was so hungry the entire time!!!
